Effective June16, 2025 the Byfield Water District Commissioners are declaring a state of water conservation.
The following MANDATORY water restrictions should be adhered to during these conditions.

1) Odd-even out-door watering. Outdoor watering by users with odd numbered addresses is restricted to odd numbered days, even numbered addresses is restricted to even numbered days.
2) Outdoor water hours are restricted to

6:00 A.M. to 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
3) Filling of swimming pools is prohibited.

As per the Byfield Water District’s Water Management Permit, water restrictions are triggered when streamflow in the Parker River falls below 20 cubic feet per second (cfs) for May and June, and 6 cfs for July, August and September.
All residents are required to follow these conservation rules.

Dear Customer

The letter that was sent to you is a form letter sent to us from the DEP that could not be altered or changed in any way. The Byfield Water District is in full compliance with all drinking water standards and has an active Lead and Copper sampling plan in place.Sampling was just completed this summer and the results are posted on our website.

These are new regulations that will take effect over the next decade. The letter you received is the very first part of the process as required by the new rule revision. Next steps for the BWD will include additional survey work if deemed necessary, and follow up communication with customers. There is no requirement to test the water at your residence and the BWD is not sponsoring a testing program at this time. If you want to test your water, we have posted a list of certified labs and pricing ( pricing may have changed).

Please see the Q&A document and feel free to contact us with any additional questions. The Byfield Water District is committed to providing clean safe drinking water to our customers. These new regulations are a nation wide effort to identify and mitigate any lead material in the water service line to a customer, see this link  to the new revisions by EPA. We thank you for your attention to these new regulations and we look forward to a transparent process.  https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/revised-lead-and-copper-rule

Respectfully
